Farheen Kaka
Farheen Kaka is a Bay Area native who knew from 6 years old that she wanted to be a teacher ― helping everybody with their homework. Her career dreams evolved and in university she majored in marketing/PR while working as a personal banker, as she had strengths in building relationships and public speaking. Throughout her varied career in banking, advertising and supply chain she realized she would rather teach her job and create avenues for professional development than do her job. Moving to Accenture in 2008, she taught retail banking at WaMu (eventually Chase) and then moved on to Cisco Systems where she was shown and taught CM consulting and practice.
Her 6-year-old self was right all along, and while working full time she completed her M.Ed. and went for an MBA in organizational development. Eventually she was hired at Gilead Sciences and expanded her reach to include OCM, communications and L&D, and received several promotions.
Looking back, she would have never predicted she would be a thought leader, professional speaker and achieve a variation of her dream of being an educator and supporter of others. She is passionate about understanding people, lifelong learning, rescuing pups and new experiences/extensive travel.
